There was pandemonium today in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State Capital, following the invasion of the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP, Secretariat by some unknown hoodlums allegedly sent to the party’s house by a factional group.

The attack came up during a press conference organized by the leadership of the party to brief reporters on how the party is preparing for the 2014 Governorship election.

It was when the programme was about to kickstart in the presence of 20 journalists from different national dailies that the suspected thugs stormed the venue with ammunitions, leading to several people being injured.

They shot sporadically, while taking the over the venue and the entire area.

Former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Kola Adefemi, who is also the Legal Adviser of Ekiti State chapter of the PDP was beaten to mercilessly by the political thugs.

Also, the State Auditor of the party, Mr Tunji Olanrewaju, was not spared, as he was hit repeatedly on the head with stones and other dangerous missiles and stripped naked.

Some journalists were also injured, while others were forced to jump through the fence in order to save their lives.

The former Speaker, who was bleeding profusely in the head and Olanrewaju were taken to a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti, Adetade Hospital, for treatment.

DailyPost gathered that the aggrieved members of the party who were not satisfied with the method the party was employing to pick its candidate were behind the crisis.

It would be recalled that the party’s State Chairman, Mr. Maknajuola Ogundipe had on Friday constituted an 11-man Consensus Screening Committee.

The committee, headed by retired Justice Edward Ojuolape, has drawn mixed reactions from different groups in the party.

Some members of the State Working Committee are accusing the chairman of single handedly constituting the committee without consulting others.

Elders of the party had earlier advised that the Committee be put on hold for wider consultations to be made.

Why is it that whenever the other political associations are on top of any situation, the conclusion is that “all went fairly well”. The report is different when PDP dominates. I see a serious imbalance in the political reports.
